Garden Clubs & Societies Plant Fair
Garden Clubs and Societies Plant Fair will be held at the South Perth Community Centre, corner of South Terrace and Sandgate Street, South Perth.
February 2020: Saturday 22nd 8.30am - 4pm. Sunday 23rd 9am - 3pm.
September 2020: Saturday 12th 8.30am - 4pm. Sunday 13th 9am - 3pm.
Palm & Cycad Annual Show in November - Free Entry
The ever popular Palm and Cycad Annual Show, will be held at the Manning Community Centre, corner of Bradshaw Crescent & Jarman Ave, Manning on Saturday 14th 9am - 4pm and Sunday 15th 9am - 3pm of November 2020. The event will run for two days only and as always it will be well attended and well patronised by the public. People can admire the palms and cycads on display and also have the opportunity to buy some rare and unusual palms and cycads, also some other exotic plants such as Bromeliads and Ferns. Do not miss this great opportunity and definitely a great day out, well worth it.
The Palm and Cycad Society conducts bi-monthly meetings, on the second Sunday of the second month from 2pm to 4.30pm. Meetings are held at different locations, where members will have the opportunity to admire a number of different gardens. At the meetings, palms and cycads are discussed and other related issues, also covering a variety of subjects. Members will be notified of the up and coming meetings by email.
The Society is doing away with the Library due to drop in demand, storage availability and change of different venues. Members can purchase palm and cycad books at extremely low prices through the Librarian, or during our promotional activities. For more details contact the Librarian George Sevastos on 08 9448 4816.
Annual General Meeting
The A.G.M. is held in August/October each year, where members have the chance to endorse and appoint new club candidates. It is very important members attend this crucial and important meeting.
BBQ at the Park
The Palm and Cycad Society holds its annual BBQ lunch at Gascoyne Park on the last Sunday in October each year, where members meet and discuss different topics over a BBQ lunch. Members will have the opportunity to inspect and admire the gardens, also collect seeds.
Christmas luncheon is normally held in late November, early December each year in different venues. Members will have the opportunity to check the gardens, enjoy a drink and mingle with other members discussing a number of subjects and get to know and get acquainted with other members. After the luncheon it is customary for the President to make a speech and present member(s) with a certificate(s) of appreciation.
Bus Trips are sometimes held in late Autumn or early Spring, where members have the chance to visit a number of gardens and nurseries.
